Wrapping up 2024 - A year of exciting lenses
Photo by SIGMA Corporation of America
It's time to wrap up 2024, and look back at the year that has passed with a Year in Review. A year that had a lot of exciting lenses to offer, everything from the ultra telephoto lens 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports, the fisheye wide-angle 15mm F1.4 DG DN | Art together with the world's first* F1.8 full-frame mirrorless zoom - the 28-45mm F1.8 DG DN | Art. We reinvented old favorites, and at the same time went where no opticts company has gone before.
This year, we've seen both new lenses as well as some long-awaited additions, releasing Canon RF Mount lenses for the first time.
Let's have a look at SIGMA's 2024!

500mm F5.6 DG DN OS |
Our first launch of the year was the ultra telephoto lens SIGMA 500mm F5.6 DG DN OS | Sports, exclusively for mirrorless cameras. With clear, sharp images and amazing mobility, this handy-size 500mm offers a whole new shooting experience. By incorporating multiple large-diameter, exclusive low-dispersion glass elements that are challenging to process, SIGMA succeeded in significantly downsizing the lens construction without the use of differactive optical elements, creating a remarkably compact and lightweight lens.

15mm F1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye | Art
In February, we did not only launch the ultra telephoto lens, we also introduced the world's first* F1.4 diagonal fisheye interchangeable lens for 35mm full-frame, the SIGMA 15mm F1.4 DG DN Diagonal Fisheye | Art. Unparalleled resolving power that overturns the conventional wisdom about fisheye lenses. An exceptionally sharp lens across its entire 180° angle-of-view that offers an ultra-fast F1.4 aperture, making it the perfect choice for both astrophotography, landscapes and architecture.

50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art
In April, SIGMA launched the lightest lens in its class*, the SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art. A bright F1.2 maximum aperture with the highest level of descriptive power from SIGMA's Art line, offering new possibilities and surprise for expression. The SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art has been designed with an emphasis on high resolution from the maximum aperture to the full focus range and large, beautiful bokeh expression. The contrast between the sharpness of the focus surface and the melting bokeh effect creates a three-dimensional effect thanks to its F1.2 aperture. In addition, the 13-blade diaphragm allows for beautiful, smooth bokeh.
What's impressive is that this lens maintains nearly the exact same dimensions as the SIGMA 50mm F1.4 DG DN | Art. The perfect choice for portraits as well as street photography in low-light situations.

24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art
In 2019, SIGMA released the 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN | Art, a workshorse of a lens that has been extremely popular since. A great lens, but we felt that an update was in place after 5 years, and in May we introduced our upgraded 24-70mm F2.8 DG DN II | Art. With an overall upgrade, it also is 7% smaller and 10% lighter, with a 3x times faster autofocus then the previous model.
It has also been equipped with an aperture ring, and two AFL buttons.
